About Me
Hello, thanks for getting this far. I'm Jessica. I'm a humanistic and integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, offering one-to-one therapy for adults online across the UK.
My background
My own experience of therapy has played an important part in shaping the therapist I am today. One of the biggest things I've had to learn, and in many ways, unlearn, is that my worth doesn't have to come from what I do for other people or how useful I am. Learning that I exist outside of external validation has been a big part of my journey, and has given me a real appreciation for how difficult it can be to untangle the beliefs we carry about ourselves.
That experience is part of why I care so much about creating a relationship where you don't have to perform, get things right, or arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. Therapy with me is collaborative and led by what you need.
Together, we can explore what's going on for you, make sense of the things that might be keeping you stuck, and work out what you need - at your own pace.
Outside of the therapy room, I volunteer at a luncheon club for older people. I'm also usually reading something, making or crafting something, or out walking my dog. I believe there's a lot of value in the ordinary bits of life too - connection, creativity, humour, and having somewhere you're allowed to simply be.
My approach
I’m a humanistic and integrative therapist, which means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. My work is rooted in humanistic and relational therapy, while also drawing on psychodynamic ideas and Transactional Analysis. This allows us to explore both what is happening for you now and the experiences and patterns that may have shaped how you relate to yourself and others.
Sessions are led by you. We go at your pace, explore what matters to you, and work together to find what helps.
Whether you are coming to therapy for the first time or returning after a break, you are welcome here exactly as you are.
My values
Everything I do as a therapist is grounded in a few things that matter deeply to me, both in how I work and in the kind of relationship I hope we can build together.
Acceptance
You don't have to earn your place in therapy. You are welcome as you are - including the parts of yourself you might struggle to accept, understand, or even like. There is no expectation to be anything other than where you are right now.
Curiosity, not judgement
I'm interested in understanding your world, rather than deciding what it should look like. Together, we can be curious about your feelings, experiences and patterns without labelling them as good or bad, right or wrong.
Being human
I don't believe therapy needs to feel clinical or overly formal. I bring my genuine self into the relationship, which means there can be warmth, honesty and humour alongside the difficult stuff. I want therapy to feel like a real conversation between two people. We're speaking human being to human being.
Collaboration
You are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do or decide what's best for you. We work together, bringing different perspectives and making space for you to discover what feels right for you.
